School Holidays

Details of school holidays can be found here.

This information was prepared during the Autumn Term 2016 and refers to the academic year 2016/2017. The particulars it gives were correct when the website was produced.
Punctuality is very important as lateness distresses the child and disrupts the rest of the class. It is very important that the children are in the playground ready to enter school at 8.55am. If your child arrives late they will be issued with a 'late note'. A copy of these notes are held in school. Officially if your child arrives after the register has closed they are marked absent.

However, it is also important to remember that children should not be brought to school too early, particularly on wet mornings. Children should therefore not arrive before 8.45am.

When your child is absent from school it is your responsibility to ring the school office (0191) 200 7249 on the first day of absence by 9.30am. Should you need to remove your child from school during the course of the day to visit the dentist, doctor etc, a pass should be obtained at the school office. These passes are designed to ensure the safety and security of the children and should be kept with you in the event of being stopped by a school attendance officer. Please note that routine appointments should be made outside of the school day.

Holidays in term time are not authorised except in exceptional circumstances. This would need to be discussed with the Headteacher.

The school operates the "traffic light system" details of which can be found here.

Rates of Authorised & Unauthorised Absence

We are required to report each year on the percentage of authorised absence (this means that the school has been informed by telephone or personally by a parent/carer) and the percentage of unauthorised absence (this is where no notification is given). If your child's attendance gives us any cause for concern then we will write to you.
